Manado’s local food, also known as Minahasan food. Manadonese food is very famous throughout Indonesia for two things. First, the flavor of choice is very, very hot and spicy. People in Manado will likely not go for a strike when fuel costs increase, but it is very unlikely for them to stay quiet when chili prices increase. They eat almost anything with chilies, even for fried sweet banana. Second, Minahasan people eat absolutely anything with legs, except tables and chairs for sure. Exotic meat choices include dogs, fruit bats, forest rats, cats, snakes. » SEAFOOD

Fresh seafood is the famous in manado because the location of Manado which is close to the sea. Grilled Gala Shrimp and Grilled Spicy Grouper. That's the favorite one in manado. » TINUTUAN (Manadonese porridge/Bubur Manado) :
Bahan : Beras, Bayam, Singkong, Labu, Kangkung, Gedi (Hibiscus Manihot L), Jagung. Untuk topingnya, biasanya digunakan kemangi, dan sambal goreng. Orang Manado biasanya mengambil, keripik gurih Nike (anak dari ikan Awaous melanocephalus/bayi Goby) atau Cakalang goreng (Skipjack Tuna) sebagai lauknya.

Salah satu makanan favorit di Manado, dan biasanya untuk sarapan.

Nasi Kuning terbuat dari, nasi yang dimasak dengan santan dan kunyit agar berwarna kuning dan gurih. Nasi Kuning dicampur dengan suwiran ikan cakalang, abon sapi, dan beberapa taburan gorengan atau kentang sebagai topping. Biasanya orang Manado memakannya dengan telur rebus atau tahu goreng. Jika Anda ingin makan di suatu tempat, Nasi Kuning akan dikemas menjadi semacam daun lontar.

Nama lokal minuman minahasa (alkohol) yang diolah dari nira aren, menjadi salah satu minuman beralkohol di tanah Toar Lumimuut. Dalam pembuatan Cap Tikus dibutuhkan keahlian khusus. Dimana petani mulai memurnikan nira (saguer di Minahasa), dan diolah sedemikian rupa sehingga menjadi salah satu minuman beralkohol yang dikonsumsi masyarakat Minahasa dan Sulawesi pada umumnya.
